Description:
This is a wonderful apple crisp. It is easy to make and is delicious! It works well with pears as well. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

5-6 pounds of Braeburn or Granny Smith apples
Grated zest of 1 orange
2 tbsp orange juice
1 tbsp lime juice
3/4 c sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg

Topping
1 1/2 c flour
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 # unsalted butter
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  2. Lightly butter a 9 x 13 baking dish

  3. Peel, core and cut apples into slices. combine apples with orange zest, juices sugar and spices. pour into prepared dish.

  4. To make the topping combine flour, sugars, salt and oatmeal into a medium mixing bowl. cut butter into tiny pieces and nead the butter into oatmeal mixture until crumbly. scatter topping over the apples mixture and bake in the middle of you oven for about 1 hour until top is golden brown and the apples mixture is bubbling. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and lots of whipped cream.
